Ireland set to close schools, universities over coronavirus

Ireland has decided to put in place the closure of schools and universities and outline restrictions on public transport in response to the spread of the coronavirus. PM Leo Varadkar made the statement to the nation from Washington DC, where he is due to meet President Trump as part of the annual St Patrick’s Day program of events.

There's no reason, in the year 2020, that modern first-world schools don't have classroom-streaming/online contingency plans. In this globalised new-earth, outbreaks like Coronavirus will become normal, so there should be measures in place to manage it the same way areas used to hurricanes manage the risk.

I think the US has some of that but not sure how prevalent it is. I know in a school district where I sub they have access to Chromebooks but I'm not sure they can take it home. That district is fairly well off.

Ah yes, virus holidays, the only risk is that I may die of wine poisoning before this is over. Can we arrange another outbreak for this time next year?
