Canadian, Italian freed in Mali 15 months after abduction

A Canadian woman and Italian man kidnapped in Burkina Faso in December 2018 have been released and appear to be in good health, a UN mission spokesman confirmed. Edith Blais and Italian Luca Tacchetto went missing while traveling through the country where jihadist groups with links to al Qaeda and IS are active. It is not known who was responsible for their kidnapping or if any ransom was paid.

Abducted. Then later escaped and in good health? I hope they're monitoring them to make sure they aren't going to turn around and bomb innocent civilians. Why would you go to a hellhole to begin with unless you had sympathies for the region. It's happened before.

UN almost certainly paid money to the ISIS rebels for their release. their freedom will finance a couple RPGs. every silver lined cloud has its black heart.
