President Trump declares Sunday a National Day of Prayer

President Trump declared Sunday a ’National Day of Prayer’ amid the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19 and said he will tune into a church service online. He tweeted that the Country ’looked to God for protection and strength’. Trump made the declaration Friday, the same day he also declared a national emergency over COVID-19.

Praying is a good way to subside most people's fears. Even if you believe religion is the opiate of the masses sometimes you need painkillers in a painfully cruel world. My prayers are even for the faithless. Socrates once explained the blind doesn't see the cart rushing toward them and nothing you do will convince them.

Prayer is ritualistic self-humbling. It can help, by placing things into perspective. perhaps just 1 in 1000 as a result will stay home rather than be stubborn and cough all over some restaurant staff. These little things can manifest as positive change.

Very smart. I'm an atheist myself, but if I were in Trump's shoes, I would also play this card. People are feeling very helpless and vulnerable right now, so reminding them there is a higher power they can lean on will do wonders to ease panic.

look at it like this. prayer cost nothing. pray or not. if you don't believe nothing will be effected. not if but when you die then it's too late to pray. you who mock prayer. leave it alone. do not condemn or mock those that do. and in the end you can let us know if hell flame actually sterilize Corona virus or not. we still love you. huggies......

I look at it like this, if it makes some people (I’m betting a lot) feel good, or gives them hope, or even eases the anxiety a little then it’s a good thing. I don’t why some atheists have to get all upset about it. That’s weak man.

I'm an apathiest agnostic . To all the lefties, who were going to bitch and moan anyway, and atheists complaining, why do you care? This obviously isn't for you. This isn't for me. That's okay. Not everything has to be about you. The leader of the country is trying to speak to 78% of the country in terms they understand. Stop your whining and move along.

This is such a political device. The only thing Trump worships is himself. And he’s making an absolute fool of our entire country.
