House passes sweeping coronavirus aid package

House passes sweeping coronavirus aid package

The House overwhelmingly approved legislation to give direct relief to Americans impacted by the spreading coronavirus on Friday, hours after President Trump declared a national emergency. The ’Families First Coronavirus Response Act’ will guarantee free tests for all, including the uninsured, and provide two weeks of paid sick leave. Trump praised good bipartisan ’teamwork’ for the passage.

Isn't it nice seeing the bigoted DNC finally working with Trump for a change? Nothing like a foreign evil to bring a country together

Would be interesting to know how many Americans read headlines like these and think that the new thing, whatever it might be, is now an actual law?

funny how the articles point out that Democrats did ALL the work writing the bill, but put in a few things expressly to make Republicans feel important, like trying to make these protections permanent so Republicans can strike the permanency down and feel like they are participating and call it bipartisan. trust me, this bill is a democrat bill. you are going to owe your life to Democrats. just like those who owe their lives to Obamacare actually owe it to Republicans. so tell me again how Medicare for all is a bad thing? how is it bad if the majority of sick and injured people can actually get back to full productivity? not just during emergencies like now, but the unforseen pitfalls of everyday life? how is it a bad thing to ask the obscenely wealthy to help the people who MADE them wealthy?

They could have erased all student debt on top of this With the money they already wasted on supporting “the economy” aka the wealthiest

I guess Republicans didn't think they could keep blocking stuff like this without looking bad. ... and apparently this only applies to companies with less than 50 employees. So I guess it is just so people could say they did something without really helping almost anyone.

Finally, something somewhat positive. This will temporarily help people in economic distress due to the outbreak. We will see what long term measures are taken.
