Researchers map immune response to coronavirus

Australian researchers have mapped the immune responses from a coronavirus patient. The country’s health minister said this was an important step in developing a vaccine. By examining the blood results from the patient, researchers at Australia’s Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity discovered that people’s immune systems respond to COVID19 in the same way it typically fights flu.

Science never advanced this fast on a new illness. That is very good news, not only for the current crisis but for future problems as well. It is up to the politicians though to povide longterm funding for these things and to tackle the problems we have in healthcare and global pandemic control.
