United Auto Workers union sought 2-week plant shutdown over coronavirus

The United Auto Workers union has asked the Big Three Detroit automakers to shut down production for two weeks to safeguard its members from the coronavirus outbreak. UAW President Rory Gamble, in a letter to union members on Tuesday, said the automakers had until Tuesday afternoon to respond to the shutdown request or ’we will take this conversation to the next level.’
