17 officers sent home after NYPD officer tests positive for coronavirus

17 officers from the NYPD’s 1st Precinct were sent home after one officer tested positive for COVID-19 for possible exposure. Currently, 31 officers have called out sick at the precinct, nearly 17% of the precinct’s staff. However, the NYPD’s recommendation seems to conflict with CDCs saying officers ’can keep working’ if exposed and should only ’call out sick ONLY IF they ... develop symptoms’.

Very surprising and worrisome that NYPD recommendation is still for cops to work when exposed to COVID-19. It seems most of these 17 are being sent home without symptoms but Fox article clearly says their standard recommendation is to come to work unless symptomatic even if exposed to someone who has tested positive. Also worrisome that tests still seem in such short supply that it doesn't sound like all of these officers are being tested.
