IKEA will continue to pay employees for all scheduled shifts and provide benefits through the time the stores remain closed. The Reuters article from the NY Post fails to mention this. I believe they employ about 12,000 people in the United States. Lots of people are finding themselves unemployed and are scrambling to find work right now on top of all of the concerns over the pandemic. What IKEA is doing for its employees is admirable and should be commended. It’s time for those companies and businesses that can to lead by the same example and truly show their employees that we are all in this together.
