Carnival offers cruise ships as temporary hospitals

Carnival Corp announced Thursday it would be using cruise ships from four of its brands to serve as temporary hospitals. The cruise line suggested its ships could be used mainly to treat non-coronavirus patients, in order to free up beds in land-based hospitals for COVID-19 patients. The company said it could provide up to 1,000 hospital rooms.

This makes so much sense for coastal cities where we have high population. Much better than spending needed dollars on temp structures.

If anyone, (and I mean this) actually thinks this is a good idea; please volunteer to help on the ship. Or please just be quiet about how wonderful this is. You are just trying to feel happy about a future disaster. But I suspect everyone knows this is bad, but will push forward anyways. https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/423/028/681.gif

Yes those things are floating disease incubators. They will have trouble handling even non Corona cases. Because one sick person would spread it through air system. Like in Japan. Hopefully the Navy ships have filtering systems.

For everyone who thinks this is a good idea....I hate to burst your bubble but those ships all recirculate the air which is why so many people got sick on them when someone who was infected got onboard. Con crud is a real thing folks.

I wouldn't bet money on the "quality of care" they could potentially serve. Then again that might because I grew up in a family that would never enjoy a cruise, and believe you'd likely catch a stomach bug on those ships.

Altruism. It's what's for dinner. Now how fast can they get to New York?

IL warn you now.... Just from carnivals past record. You DO NOT want to be on that floating hospital if you can at all help it. And if so...God bless and best of luck

Generous, even if self-serving to improve their ratings. Technically, they have an HVAC issue of sharing airflow - that's why people got cross-infected on those ships so much.
