Twitter will verify more health experts to fight COVID-19 misinformation

In order help elevate accounts that are ’providing credible updates around #COVID19’, Twitter is mobilizing the blue badge system to help surface and signal more authoritative and verified voices. The update comes as the platform takes more steps to beat back a wave of hoaxes and other disinformation that’s spread on social media in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Right, because being verified on Twitter has any real world value. From what I have see over the years having a blue check mark just means you can be a vile human being with no consequences.

"Twitter misinformation"?.....Nooooo! Maybe stop pushing 6+/10 trending topics that smear Trump only with a disinformation campaign. There's your misinfo. And YOU are the ones pushing it.

Considering Twitter's blue check mark army only consists of people who either tow the line or are to prevalent in the world to be denied I don't give half a shit about what comes out of a blue check mark account and actively ignore what they say.

Like being a blue check mark means anything 😂😂😂

Ignoring the premise that a 'blue check' implies that one's information/statements are valuable and trustworthy, what is all this so called disinformation that they are worried about? I mean are we talking about people impersonating official groups, or is the issue merely people talking about rumors/conspiracies/etc?
