COVID-19 update: 284,712 cases globally, 11,842 deaths

From less than 200,000 cases on March 17, the number of cases of COVID-19 infections is closing in on 300,000 in less than a week since. China has recorded the third day of zero domestic cases. Besides Italy (47,021), cases in Spain (24,926) and Germany (20,705) have surpassed Iran (20,610). The US now has 19,775 cases with 276 deaths. WHO chief warned young people, ’you are not invincible’.

I got an email from my doctor, or the medical group he belongs to. They send these out periodically. They said, yes, the number of cases is increasing and that social distancing is a good measure. It also said, "the overwhelming majority of those individuals are doing just fine, recovering at home, many with very mild symptoms. " It didn't downplay that people are dying. Because my job puts a lot of people in front of me (I'm still working, yes) I often have conversations. A big concern of many is not getting it but instead of passing it along to others who are my likely to die of they contract it.
