FAA halts NYC air traffic after staff member tests positive for COVID-19

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has temporarily suspended departures and air traffic control in airports near NYC on Saturday due to a coronavirus-related staffing issue. The FAA confirmed that an air traffic controller trainee had tested positive for COVID-19. The suspension affected departures to Kennedy, LaGuardia, Newark and other airports in the region.
