General Electric’s aviation unit to cut 10 percent of US employees

GE’s aviation unit plans to cut its total US workforce by about 10%— about 2,600 people, as airlines delay purchases amid the coronavirus pandemic. GE’s aviation unit, which makes engines for Boeing Co and Airbus SE aircraft, employed about 52,000 people globally as of 2019, with about half of them working in the US. Shares of the company fell to their lowest close since 1992 after the news.
