The US Navy Military hospital ship USNS Mercy with 800 staff has set sail to LA to help relieve the strain coronavirus is putting on the area’s hospital system. The ship departed San Diego on Monday. Mercy’s sister ship on the east coast, USNS Comfort, will arrive in New York in the next ’3 or 4 weeks’ following a maintenance period. Both ships will carry 750 beds to house trauma patients.
