St. Louis Fed president says US unemployment rate could hit 30 percent

Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President James Bullard predicted that the US unemployment rate may hit 30% in the 2nd quarter because of shutdowns to combat the coronavirus, and that the fall in GDP could be as high as 50%. Bullard, suggesting a grimmer outlook than other estimates, said a $2.5 tr loss in income is possible, and that a huge stimulus would be needed to make up for it.
