Italy hikes fines up to 3,000 euros for those who defy lockdown

Italy government has raised the fine for those who violate a lock down order from 206 euros to between 400 and 3,000 euros. The decision was taken after 50,000 people were caught breaking the rule. People reportedly defied the ban for such trivial reasons as fishing, playing cards or drinking beer. The lock down was announced to stay until April 3, but it looks likely that it would be extended.
