Police in India use force on coronavirus lockdown violators

Indian police used force against violators of the country’s 21-day coronavirus lockdown on Wednesday as baton-wielding cops beat the people into compliance across the country. The world’s largest democracy went under the world’s biggest lockdown Wednesday, with India’s 1.3 billion people ordered to stay home in a bid to stop coronavirus overwhelming the country’s fragile healthcare system.

I used to be very judgemental of India and Pakistan using those long sticks for crowd control. And then, pardon the pun, it "hit" me, when you have a gaggle of morons ignoring a necessary and a legitimate order to stay indoors, you need a long stick to beat the snot out of them. Italy's increasing fines for violation of the quarantine order,- that's a mistake they need to issue long sticks to the police give them orders to beat the crap out of anyone moving on the streets without a good reason.
