Assange denied bail after claiming ’high risk’ of catching coronavirus

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, fighting an extradition to the US, was denied bail on Wednesday after his lawyers said he should be released because he was highly vulnerable to COVID-19. The lawyer claimed Assange had suffered from four respiratory tract infections besides heart problems. ’This global pandemic does not as of itself provide grounds for Mr Assange’s release’, the judge said.
