Store throws away $35K worth of food after woman’s ’twisted’ coronavirus prank

A grocery store in Pennsylvania was forced to throw away an estimated $35,000-worth of products after a woman went through the store coughing on food. The incident happened Wednesday at the Gerrity’s Supermarket in Hanover Township. The store owner added efforts are being made to have the woman tested for COVID-19, though she is not believed to be infected.

I'm not saying these people need to be charged as terrorists....but there needs to be harsher punishments then slaps on wrists for these pranks. These "pranks" need to be treated with a higher priority. It can incite panic, and be actually dangerous .

Charge her with Destruction of property that total 35k and value. Then disruption of the peace and then we will see how funny your “prank” is after some heavy fines and jail time.

A lawsuit for damages is more than likely being mailed to her. Would not want to be her lawyer when this goes to court. Criminal and civil damages could have signifigant ramifications for her future. Common sense dictates you do not commit mischievious acts during global pandemics.

She should most definitely be in jail or face a harsh ass fine. There is no excuse for such childish behavior during a pandemic

She probably just went to the dumpster round back and loaded it all in her car. Anyway charge her

Ok she’s not cool and I hope she pays for it somehow but I would have washed what can be washed. Certainly plenty of produce can be washed, for example. I get they may not be able sell it, but donating it is better than trashing all that food, if it came down to it. Maybe it’s an insurance thing. I actually wash everything I get from grocery stores as a matter of habit. I have been for years.

The woman who maliciously coughed on the food at Gerrity’s Supermarket during a public health emergency should be required to pay the $35,000 in reparation for the damages caused. She not only financially harmed Gerrity’s Supermarket, but she also has deprived the Hanover Township community of those necessary goods in a time of national emergency.

Fair punishment? Have 100 people cough on her, weld her door shut at home, let her sweat whether or not she gets infected.

I've done inventory control for grocery stores. 35,000 dollars worth of food, is a lot of fucking food.

Besides charging the kunt and throwing her to prison. They could have tried to sterilize that food with an UV lamp. It's just an idea

No other name for it but terrorism. If she was on a plane and said bomb she’d be charged

That person deserves to be coughed on continually for 5 hours in a room full of Corona patients.

NeverMetTheGuy 7 months

Wouldn't this be destruction of property? She should be sued.

They have special veggie wash for oranges and apples and other firm skinned fruit. The viruse is said not to live on organic produce for very long as well. I don't think they need to throw it out but wash half of it let it sit for 3 days till the viruse died out.

I've read through most of the comments and I have a simple question for all of you if you were on a jury involving the trial of a person, who having observed someone doing exactly this coughing and spreading germs as a prank on food in the public place, Then took it upon him or herself to beat the snot out of that person who was spreading the germs in the store, would you be willing to convict the person of assault if you understood the reason why.

Can we just give all these idiots the death penalty

Akira6968 7 months

Honestly they could just plaster her face and name everywhere and a lawsuit for damages, that would be just punishment. Remember those things in the public square that they used to hold ppl in to be shamed? Where are those?

Well shit, the injection is too expensive. Me and my friends will come by and we'll make a firing squad. (This is a joke BTW.)

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd still eat it. If the Kung Flu can survive through me cooking it, it has earned the right to try and take my life.
