Afghanistan and Taliban agree to free prisoners amid COVID-19 concerns

Amid concerns of the coronavirus outbreak, the Afghan government and the Taliban have agreed to a prisoner release deal. A Taliban spokesperson announced Wednesday that a four-hour video conference had taken place involving representatives of Afghanistan’s government, the Taliban insurgency, the US, Qatar and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

That's... suprising. With the lethality of not just war but life itself in the Taliban strongholds (3rd world villages) I'm surprised either of them care.
