South Africa in lockdown; cases at 927

Appearing in full military uniform for the first time since the end of apartheid, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa ordered troops to be a ’force of kindness’ as a three-week lockdown was set to begin. The country has reported 972 COVID-19 cases with two deaths. Africa’s total cases are now 3,037. 46 of the continent’s 54 countries have reported cases of the virus.
