Barr: Federal prisons mustn’t become ’petri dishes’ for coronavirus

The Trump administration is planning to release at-risk inmates as the number of cases of coronavirus continues to multiply in the country’s corrections system. AG Bill Barr said that the oldest and most at-risk inmates could be sent to home confinement. ’We want to make sure our institutions don’t become petri dishes and it doesn’t spread rapidly through an institution,’ Barr said.

Well you could just cancel their recess time and keep them all in their cells.

What is the alternative? Let them all go? or maybe we can lock everything down and make every prison a supermax.

California is letting criminals out of prison due to the risk of COVID, yet they aren't limiting visitors including conjugal visits.

Send them home to commit more crimes. I doubt inmates are going to follow the rules of self quarantine.

So, I'm expecting for all of the Burr haters to stop by the comment section and say, "yeah, he is right on this one". Wont be holding my breath though.

If we were a smart society we would not take prisoners at all. Those that commit escalated crimes are already against the idea of cooperating society and have been proven not to change on that front, though some change to avoid further arrest. Its not pretty, but prisoners are already being granted the benefit of living rather than culling. They get more than some poor citizens do now. If they catch the virus, do they get the same healthcare and supplies citizens do now? Are they still citizens, people of our society, in full and just behind bars? Tough questions need to be asked, because we certainly are treating prisoners as citizens while labeling them otherwise.

Trump and his "henchmen" admin remind me of that movie regarding a "superhero" who saved his city from a "evil villain" who then released the worst criminals out into the public sector to wreak havoc to destroy the basic morals and anything else they could think of!
