Google removes Infowars Android app over coronavirus claims

Google has pulled down the Infowars Android app from the Google Play store. As per reports, the app was apparently removed because of a video posted by Alex Jones that ’disputed the need for social distancing, shelter in place, and quarantine efforts meant to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus’.

Love or hate Mr Jones, it’s not up to big tech to decide if you can listen to his pearls of wisdom/ inane conspiracies. That is the epitome of violating your rights- if this trend keeps up this pace, what will ‘they’ decide is ‘hate speech’ next (usually just a different point of view from the eternally offended)

What are they going to ban the religious because they believe God will save them next? Let people say what they want and we can decide if we believe them or not. We don't need big brained Google employees to decide if we should be allowed to hear what someone has to say.

Un-personed, like in '1984'.

Time to ban all the religious apps I guess. Including Islamic ones. Thank goodness we have Google to tell us what we need to listen to. All praise Google!

They were looking for a chance to do this. I don't generally agree with him, but he is more of a public jester than a serious commentator. In a free society, we are allowed to ask questions about impact of any government policy to our liberty. No one said break any rules. But asking questions is everyone's right. Tech was just looking for an excuse.

Like how they say "coronavirus misinformation" no examples no video of him saying anything. He will just be the first. If you claim misinformation it's up to you to prove it.

Don't get this. His followers likely already believe this and his opponents don't.

The banhammer comes down again on wrong think. Fukin garbage. I hate Google with a passion. Alphabet needs to be dismantled and everyone anywhere near the top needs to be blacklisted from any tech job.

Alex Jones, brought America s. proof of bilderburg. video evidence. and streamed it for free. unlike his counter part Michael Moore, who profits from his misinformation documentary s. if we can prove that ordinary working people are able to peacefully assemble, and resolve their own problems we could be facing the possibility that all which was Privatized, sold, all that is in the hands of the corporation's be returned to the people's hands. teaching us an important lesson. one should never underestimate the power of the people!

I sure they just make stuff up. Did he claim moon was made of cheese as well? They post stuff without proof.

Infowars crew started to downplay and trivialize the Covid19 threat. They were very informative and sane at the beginning. But for a while they started to be annoying. We see this shit in Europe. It is fucking not a flue and it could be very dangerous. Some people get away with it, but some have very hard symptoms and not a few just die. And not only the old or sick people. There are no enough respirators and doctors leave older people to die. There are few younger dead, because they got the proper treatment, the doctors save the younger and healthier patients. But they have the right for their opinion. I quite like Infowars, but I don't believe every single word they are saying, I'm a sane adult person and I can handle the informations, it is not for Big Tech to do it for me.

Ban the Bible too? Lots of crazy stuff in there that forces people to make bad decisions. At what point is it too far?

The headline shows blatant bias. Google "censored" Infowars? That's not censorship. "Allegedly" disputed need for social distancing? It's on video. Come on NewsVoice
