US could see between 100K-200K deaths, warns Fauci

Dr. Anthony Fauci has said that the US could have ’millions of cases’ of COVID-19 and more than 100,000 deaths. The US has so far reported 123,828 cases with 2,231 deaths and 3,238 recoveries. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, predicts 100,000-200,000 deaths. Fauci added that he would only support a rollback of social distancing in lesser-impacted areas.

Holy fucking shit. How could we possibly have bungled this so badly. Let fear at least inspire vigilance, and good luck out out there everyone.. or in there, stay inside lol

200k deaths is a LOT less than the predicted 2 million deaths, by an order of magnitude. This is actually good news.

I think he's right. The fact that there are so many outbreak hotspots all across the US now means the death toll is gonna be horrific. Plus levels of obesity are a huge problem for people who catch this virus in the same way smoking is amongst older folk in Italy, Spain and men in China who caught this virus and are still being infected.
