Sweden bucks the trend in dealing with coronavirus

As the coronavirus pandemic has forced countries across the world to take drastic steps to reduce the spread of the disease, Sweden has taken a more liberal approach in dealing with the outbreak. While countries have imposed nation-wide lockdowns, Sweden has kept pre-schools, kindergartens, bars, restaurants, ski resorts, sports clubs and hairdressers open.

They probably realise their diverse population wouldn't follow the rules and it would be racist to try and make them so why bother.

Sweden also doesn't do larger scale testing. The result is that it is one of the few countries with a proportionally larger increase in newly infected people and a disproportionally high death rate. Stockholm could look like Italy within 7-10 days, but the government assured us that it will be fine. We will see, my guess is that the reckoning comes at the next election.

Give it time. Countries that take the virus lightly tend to be the ones worst affected. Italy was one with their "hug a chinese" campaign. Spain with their massive feminist marches. NYC and California with their "continue to work and party like normal" advice from their leaders.
