Mercedes Formula 1, UCL help create COVID-19 breathing aid

Engineers at the University College London and Mercedes Formula 1 have come together to build a breathing aid that bridges the gap between an oxygen mask and a full ventilator. The team used reverse engineering to adapt continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines in an effort to keep patients out of ICU’s. Developed in just days, Mercedes hopes to deliver up to 1,000 daily in about a week.

FYI, they designed a "state of the art" version of the CPAP devices used in the UK, Italy and China which is easier to mass-produce. Non the less, as a F1 fan I'm really proud all UK based teams are coming together to help those in need. (source:Formula1.com)

Good to see this is happening, and I've also been curious how effective a CPAP would be in these situations.
