Macy’s, Kohl’s, Gap turn to mass furloughs as virus crisis deepens

Major US retailers Macy’s, Kohl’s and Gap said Monday they would furlough tens of thousands of employees as their stores remained temporarily closed and sales collapsed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Macy’s said the majority of its 125,000 employees will be furloughed this week, while Kohl’s said that the furloughs will apply to 85,000 of its employees. Gap is furloughing 80,000 of their employees.

They were already in trouble. Supposed to be the iconic Christmas store, right? Next to nothing Christmassy in the store the last few years.
