Pastor arrested for packing ’hundreds’ into Florida megachurch amid lockdown

A pastor of a Florida megachurch accused of holding 2 Sunday services has been arrested for violating the safer-at-home order in place to limit the spread of the COVID-19. The services, presided over by Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne at the River at Tampa Bay Church, were attended by hundreds of parishioners. He was arrested on charges of unlawful assembly and violating emergency public health order.

To hell with our right to peacefully assemble huh? To hell with our right to freely move without being accosted huh?....I swear people....the Constitution doesn't outline your rights and that the government is only beholden to defend them until there is an emergency.....It outlines your rights. The government is meant to protect your rights. Not strip you of them because of an act of nature.

To hell with the Constitution during emergencies? I hope this pastor fights it. We do not push the pause button on the Constitution during an emergency.

Probably needed cash, from what I've seen with these super churches, it's all about the money.

These stay at home orders seem to be at odds with the rights protected by the 1st amendment and this case seems to add religious freedom to the mix.

Here in Europe, churches have services with live streaming. Why couldn’t he have done that?

The guy's irresponsible for jeopardizing the health of his congregation but some of the blame has to go on the people who attended too. This has more to do with common sense than anything.

So hundreds of people can still pack into grocery stores, but being able to practice ones 1st ammendment is unlawful? Wtf? Might as well have armed guards on every street corner to "protect" others from the POSSIBILITY of spreading a virus.

As a conservative Christian, I entirely support this. Even though my church is shut down, several members have the virus and one probably won't make it. This man is putting potentially thousands of lives at risk, which is something God would definitely not approve of. The real issue here is that the pastor is denying the science that God created, and is willing to let people die so their tithes and offerings stay high. I'm glad that most churches in America are sensible enough to do what's right

Good more like him should be arrested. Not fallowing public health warning should not allowed right across the country and if you do not fallow jail time. Or have to help with first responders

What about the 1st ammendment! This man better sue the governemnt for all he can! Americans have the right to go out and risk themselves, we are not a socialist state. Iy isn't up to the govenrment whether or not people assemble. In addition, Marshall Law has not been declared
