Powerful 6.5 earthquake strikes southern Idaho

On Tuesday, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake on the Richter scale jolted people across Idaho and three neighboring states. No injuries or damage were immediately reported. The quake was centered 73 miles northeast of Meridian, near Boise, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. This was the most severe earthquake to occur in Idaho since a 6.9 quake in 1983 and the second worst on record.
