Michigan governor’s proposed 70-day extension of state of emergency

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan has proposal to extend her state of emergency declaration for another 70 days. This comes as the number of cases in Michigan catapulted on Wednesday. Michigan has reported 9,334 with 337 deaths. Whitmer’s proposal would extend the social distancing order until mid-June. State Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey pushed back at the prospect of such a long extension.

And thus it begins. This is why I oppose the authoritarian measure of forcing people to stay in their homes. History has proven once powers are granted to the government they fight tooth and nail to keep them.

It would be a just world if every person who railed on Trump for his chloroquine remarks had to wait in line to receive treatment of said drug. If by some crazy methodology we could do this snarky remarks would be minimized quickly. Of course we all would have to check our wit at the door.
