Cuomo shuts down NYC playgrounds as coronavirus deaths soar

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that he is closing the playgrounds in NYC as the deaths in the city reached nearly 2000. Mayor Bill de Blasio had resisted closing playgrounds, but on Tuesday had closed 10 problem playgrounds – and warned that more could be coming. Cuomo said he would leave open spaces in parks open, provided that New Yorkers continued to practice social distancing.
