Newsom: Number of California coronavirus patients in ICU quadrupled in past week

California Gov. Newsom said that the number of COVID-19 cases in ICU had jumped to 774, 4 times what it was a week ago. The total number of those who have been hospitalized are at more than 1,800, 3 times higher than last week. Health and Human Services Agency Secretary Mark Ghaly said 700,000 beds would be needed at peak in the state where currently the number of positive cases is over 9,000.
