Booze sales surge 55% during coronavirus outbreak

US sales of alcoholic beverages rose 55% in the week ending March 21. Spirits like tequila and gin led the way, with sales jumping 75% compared to same period last year. Wine sales were up 66% while beer rose 42%. Online alcohol sales far outpaced in-store sales rising 243%. Drizly said sales in the second week of March were up 300% while Minibar Deliver saw an uptick in orders as high as 131%.
