A Pakistani court has commuted the death sentence of the main accused in the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, and acquitted three co-accused in the murder. The court found Ahmed Omar Sheikh guilty of the lesser charge of kidnapping and sentenced him to seven years in prison. Sheikh could now go free unless the government challenges the decision.
