EU Commission apologizes to Italy over coronavirus response

EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen has apologized to Italy for the bloc’s sloppy coronavirus response, and has promised greater help in dealing with the economic fallout. ’It must be recognized that in the early days of the crisis...too many have thought only of their own home problems,’she said, and promised to allocate up to 100B euros to the hardest-hit EU nations, starting with Italy.

Ahh such timely aid. Only when Italy threatens to actually leave the EU and they believe it do they send even a message. Did they not see or hear the people of Italy suffering all these weeks? Is it so hard to hear from the ivory towers in Brussels and Berlin?.
