An investigation by ABC News, aimed at exploring the cause for COVID-19 having spread broadly across the US, has revealed over 3.4M people entered the country. 759,493 of these traveled from China, 343,402 arrived from Italy, 418,848 from Spain and about 1.9 million more came from Britain - some of the hardest hit countries. Before jumping to conclusions, it would be helpful to see how these numbers compare to normal. The best statistics I've been able to find are here. https://travel.trade.gov/view/m-2017-I-001/index.asp They suggest January 2020 was very comparable to January 2019.

I'm actually gobsmacked by the idea 1.9 million left the UK for America. That's an insane number to get up and move. Granted it doesn't make clear how many were Americans returning home or non-natives but still.
