Georgia reopens beaches despite coronavirus ’shelter-in-place’ order

Governor Brian Kemp Thursday issued a shelter-in-place order in the state to fight the coronavirus, and, at the same time, reopened all the state’s beaches. The order suspends any local ordinances or orders that had closed or restricted access to Georgia beaches. Shirley Sessions, mayor of Georgia’s Tybee Island, fired back at the decision and said they don’t want the beaches reopened now.
