Hours after security researchers reported that some Zoom calls were routed through China, the video conferencing platform has offered an apology and a partial explanation amidst ongoing scrutiny over privacy and security concerns with the company’s services. The company also admitted that its definition of ’end-to-end encryption’ is not actually end-to-end at all.

"Mistakenly" I call 🐂💩 on that. Routing is a pretty basic part of networki/g/DevOps, AND their SecOps should have been involved in reviewing this. I think this was intentional and they were finally caught.
