Indian hospital sealed after 26 nurses, 3 doctors test positive for COVID-19

A hospital in Mumbai has been temporarily shut and declared a containment zone after three doctors and 26 nurses tested positive for COVID-19. The infections at Wockhardt Hospital reportedly happened after two COVID-19 patients and two suspected cases were shifted there from another hospital a fortnight ago. Authorities have now taken the swabs of another 270 staffers and patients for testing.

Poverty and access to food in many parts of India will make long term containment near impossible. They need to stay very focused testing and tracing.

They have a very young population so death rates should be lower. Why close the hospital? If some healthcare people feel ok, let them care for really sick people. Will they get the people sicker?) Areas that take the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine routinely have a much lower Coronavirus death rate anyways. About 2 million confirmed malaria cases and 1,000 deaths are reported annually, although 15 million cases and 20,000 deaths are estimated by WHO South East Asia Regional Office. India contributes 77% of the total malaria in Southeast Asia. The median age in India was 26.8 years
