Navarro memos warned Trump & WH of COVID-19 threat in Jan & Feb

As per reports, President Trump’s trade adviser, Peter Navarro, reportedly warned his White House colleagues about the threat COVID-19 posed to the US public in a memo in late January. Navarro issued another warning in a second memo in February, estimating that up to 2 million Americans could die from the virus. Coinciding with the receipt of his memo, Trump formed the coronavirus task force.

Um people, this is correct. on Feb 4th Trump gave his state of the union address mentioning the virus. Pelosi ripped it up anyway.

On February 23rd, Pelosi was encouraging people to congregate in Chinatown for new years celebrations and not to worry about this virus. On March 4th deBlasio was telling people to get out and enjoy New York city and made film recommendations. He said people shouldn't worry about the virus.

For everyone who thinks or says that Trump has "botched" this response and that he had "months and months" of time, you should read this basic timeline to get some facts straight. Source listed at the bottom. 2019 December 18th House Democrats impeach Trump 2019 December 31st China informs the WHO of pneumonia cases of unknown cause 2020 January 1st China closes Huanan fishmarket 2020 January 7th China identifies coronavirus as the cause 2020 January 14th WHO claims there is no clear evidence of human to human transmission 2020 January 15th 1st confirmed infected US patient arrives in the US 2020 January 15th House sends articles of impeachment to Senate 2020 January 16th Senate begins impeachment trial of Trump 2020 January 21st CDC confirms 1st case in the US 2020 January 23rd China imposes a forced quarantine upon Wuhan. Other sources report that over 200k Chinese manage to flee out of Wuhan before the quarantine is actually enforced 2020 January 23rd WHO decides NOT to declare a public emergency 2020 January 24th WHO confirms 1st case of human to human transmission. US confirms 2nd case in the US 2020 January 29th multiple airlines suspend travel to/from China 2020 January 30th WHO declares Wuhan Flu to be a public health emergency of international concern 2020 January 31st US declares a domestic emergency due to the Wuhan Flu. The UK, Russia, Sweden, and Spain also do the same. 2020 January 31st Trump establishes the Wuhan Flu response team 2020 February 5th Trump is acquitted in the Senate trial 2020 February 7th Chinese Dr Li Winliang whistleblower who brought attention to the virus, dies in government hospital 2020 February 24th WHO publicly advocates for a policy of containment 2020 February 25th US CDC warns public to prepare for the expectation that this will be bad 2020 February 29th WHO updates its policy on travel restrictions, which it is against Trump was being Shampeached in September-January; that was the overwhelming priority of the Democratic party and it's leadership. In spite of that, Trump set up the Wuhan Flu task force in January. While Trump was doing this the MSM - New York Times, WashPo, etc - were all playing down the virus. They said it was not as bad as the flu; you are griping about Trump saying it but the Left are strangely silent about your Lefty media sources for being the ones saying it first, loudest, and longest. So, given the timeline above, where is this "months and months" of time to prepare? Immediately after the WHO declared the pandemic Trump responded. The first US case arrived in mid January, when the WHO was still saying that there wasn't any evidence of human to human transmission. Two weeks after that Trump declares a domestic emergency, the day AFTER the WHO declared a public emergency.

Second memo in February. Task force formed on January 28th. Something's not adding up here.

There is only evidence that Trump did NOT act expeditiously. He denied it was a threat until people started dropping dead by the hundreds. In fact he said that those 15 infected would soon be none, it was a "hoax" and a plot by Democrats to weaken his reelection chances. This article's title is gaslighting at its most stupid because this was just last month!

The media has done nothing but politicize, lie, spin, and weaponize coronavirus against trump knowing full well that people won’t do the work to find out if what they’re saying is true, and that a good amount of people who get their news from their social media feed will see falsified garbage and won’t see the retractions. For example the washington post’s recent lies regarding trump siezing German M95 masks, the Washington post’s recent lies regarding trump ordering the dismissal of that aircraft carrier captain, and CBS’s recent lies about a “doctor” that wasn’t permitted to wear a mask. This “nurse”: https://thefederalist.com/2020/04/06/cbs-news-posts-fraudulent-video-icu-nurse-crying-over-poor-working-conditions/ But people that don’t care what’s happening and have the same goals as the fake news media are knowingly jumping on the bandwagon. Sad!

Maybe that's why he shut down travel to/from China and formed the coronavirus task force in January. The people trying to use this as an example of his slow or lack of response have a mental handicap. It's called TDS.

Trump asked for travel ban & quarintines in Jan, but was dismissed by NYT/politico saying they would be ineffective & counter productive and then obsessed about impeaching him.

I’m sure Trump receives dozens of memos a day and some of them will be false. Just because this one turned out to be true doesn’t mean that one could claim someone “knew” the virus would get to this level.

Well, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The Trump task force has been inert and Trump (and FoxyNews) was busy spreading the "hoax" political propaganda. The intentional delay (thru February and most of March) is not forgivable.

I will never understand how these Trumpers remain true to this president. Maybe it is that they are liars themselves and therefore are incapable of knowing the difference between the truth and a lie. You don't instill hope by lying to a Country and then watching people die because you didn't react soon enough. Now he's found his scapegoat, someone to blame for his lack of action, by saying the States are responsible for stocking up on supplies and being prepared. He accepts no responsibility and continually places it squarely on the States. Yet, he is the one who had firsthand knowledge and failed those who died, are still dying, and any who will die in the future. Too little too late.

The February 23 memo doesn’t identify its author, but Axios reports that it was written by White House trade adviser Peter Navarro. The document presciently advises the federal government to immediately invest $618 million in ventilators and personal protective equipment (PPE) for health care workers. “This is the first line of defense for our health care workers and secondary workers in facilities such as elder care and skilled nursing,” the memo says. “Key items include N-95 facemasks, goggles, gloves, Tyvek suits, ventilator circuits and Positive Air Press Respirators (PAPRs).” Fast-forward 10 weeks and there are now hundreds of thousands of confirmed coronavirus cases in the US and more than 10,000 dead. Shortages of PPE and ventilators have become major problems and a source of tension between Trump and state governors who have called on him to do more to obtain supplies. But instead of heeding the February 23 warning that major investments in PPE and ventilators were needed, Trump dithered — and not just until there was a sudden uptick in confirmed cases in early March. The Associated Press’s Michael Biesecker reported on Sunday that a review of federal purchasing contracts “shows federal agencies largely waited until mid-March to begin placing bulk orders of N95 respirator masks, mechanical ventilators and other equipment needed by front-line health care workers.” Wow. What a ‘quick’ response! Zero sense of urgency leads to the richest country in the world scraping for PPE, ventilators, and other supplies because of an incompetent administration. Yet trumpists will still allow themselves to be fooled by the liar-in-chief that he responded quickly and adequately.
