Measures have been introduced by the highest court of the European Union to halt the widely criticized disciplinary regime for judges in Poland. Critics have denounced the regime as attempts to erode the independence of the judiciary of the country.

They are a sovereign nation, they don't have to do anything the E.U. tells them to. Of course, this does allow the E.U. To kick out Poland, putting a hamper on trade with E.U. countries, so its up to Poland what's more important: Trade benefits or asserting their superiority to a multinational organization.
