Google bans Zoom on employee laptops due to security concerns

Google banned Zoom software from employee laptops on Wednesday. Jose Castaneda, Google’s spokesperson, announced to staff members that Zoom is prohibited on corporate computers because it fails to meet security standards. However, he also stated that they are allowed to use it on mobile phones and browsers.

This is the kind of pressure cooker that Zoom needed in order to ever be able to function at the high-level it is going to need to be able to function at. In the long run this is all great for Zoom.

One wonders, with other secure apps on the market, why Zoom can’t get its act together regarding end to end security. Zoom is a great product. I hope it can figure out it’s encryption issues.
