UN Security Council met to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic but struggled to act

On Thursday, the United Nations Security Council met to talk about the COVID-19 pandemic. The 15-member body had difficulties agreeing on whether or not it should step in. Diplomats have mainly blamed the Security Council’s lack of action over the epidemic on the U.S. and China. As of now, 1.5 million people in over 200 countries and territories have contracted the virus, killing 90,000 of them.
