Spike in COVID-19 case projected in summer if lockdown is lifted

As per the NYT, new US government figures show COVID-19 infections spiking during the summer if stay-at-home orders are lifted after 30 days as planned. This could translate the death toll reaching 200,000. The NYT cited the new projections from the DHS and Health and Human Services. On the matter, President Trump said he has not seen the new projections reported by the Times.

The cure cant be worse than the disease. We have to get back to work. Protect the elderly and those susceptible to the disease. Wash your hands and cover your coughs. We will make it through this guys.

To hell with these BS models and projections. Just like the climate models, they are always wrong and simply stoke people's fears?

The restrictions can't be lifted yet, most Americans haven't burned through their savings completely.

And yet, we will have to lift them eventually. We are spending enormous amounts of treasure to keep this quarantine up, and you will start to see domestic violence and suicide numbers spike, too. Human beings are social creatures. We need human contact for mental health. Most of us will be fine for a time, but you will see these statistics skyrocket (or disobedience) if this goes into the summer.

That would be true... If the average world temperature during summer wasn't 80°F+ during the summer. Seeing as the virus dies at ~80°F then we should actually see a decrease in cases Edit: upon searching I found nothing major supporting what I said. However I will be leaving the comment as is so people can see the importance of research before speaking

Here is a idea. Open up testing clinics in each town. Anyone who wants to reopen their business or wants to go back to work can pay a nominal amount, say $5-$10 to pay the staff. Once they have the all clear the are given a certificate to either put on display if they are a business owner, or show their employer is they are an employee. Anyone showing any symptoms after that should be sent home and not be allowed to work until retested. It's a work-in- progress idea, but from this idea it could result in thousands more people being tested. We could also get a far better idea of who has already had this virus and survived without even realising it. This will give a far better idea of the mortality rate of the virus

All these squiggly lines don't mean much until we have reliable tests. Then we'll know who's safe to go to gradually open the economy.
