States ask Supreme Court to halt ’public charge’ rule during pandemic

New York, Connecticut and Vermont are asking the Supreme Court to reconsider an earlier decision and block the administration’s ’public charge’ rule, until the US recovers from the coronavirus pandemic. The rule makes it more difficult for immigrants to obtain legal status if they use public benefits such as Medicaid, food stamps and housing vouchers.
