Thousands of migrant workers defy lockdown at train station in India

Thousands of migrant workers in Mumbai, India, gathered outside a railway station at one of the city’s main suburbs, protesting the extension of the lockdown. Earlier in the day, the Indian PM announced the extension of the lockdown, due to expire today, till May 3. Upon ignoring warnings to disperse, police made use of batons. The daily wage workers have been rendered jobless in the lockdown.
