US home construction drops 22.3% in March

US home building activity collapsed in March as the Covid-19 spread, with housing starts declining 22.3% from a month ago. As per the data from the Commerce Department, last month the seasonally adjusted annual rate stood at 1.2mn units, down from a 1.56mn in Feb. Construction of single-family houses fell 17.5%, while apartment & condo stood lower 32.1% from a month ago.
