Land O’Lakes removes image of Native American from packaging

Food company Lands O’Lakes, ahead of its 100th anniversary, is removing the American Indian maiden off the butter box holding its signature product. The ’butter maiden’ logo has been on since 1928. The American Indian woman depicted had a feather in her hair and was kneeling, holding up a container of butter in her hands. The logo had long been criticized as racist and stereotypical.

Are they trying to erase native Americans image all thogether? Five years from now it’ll be racist that they took her off to add white people to the box.

Will it be replaced by Elizabeth Warren?

What ? Land O Lakes is smack dab in the middle of an area of Wisconsin where everything has a native name from lakes to towns. Like Tomahawk, Minocqua, Mequon and at least 22 other towns and can't even begin to name the lakes, so honoring the native people by associating a picture with a natural and wholesome product is Racist? Ok, good luck changing all the towns and lakes names in Wisconsin. Oh, and change the State name as Wisconsin is a native word.

So many questions... Was it racist? Is it sexist? Am I even real? What does real even mean anymore? (Edit) Uh Oh apparently my offerings were not long enough to count.... The algorithm has informed me that I may be a reactionary inputer and therefore do not rank as high as other more lengthy users... Story of my life, it's just never long enough. 😒

The company is removing a brand image that has built upon for nearly a century for no good reason. Talk about an irrelevant, at best, to stupid, at worst, business decision.

Can't they find a native american artist for a replacement. I have some native American ancestry, kinda liked the concept. But the actual woman looks like someone from a Norman Rockwell painting, especially on closer examination. But from a distance I did think it was Beautiful. The company is from Minnesota, so could we get something from the Sioux or similar nearby. I hate all the leftist that offended by pictures of Native Americans on brands. I think it could be done with class and respect. Why do white leftist want native americans to be forgotten? Why can't they be part of american life? Are they hoping someday they will just vanish? Was Bob big boy making fun of white people? I know it's not real, it's just a icon.

Should have added a pink haired feminist. So we can know they truly are woke.

A poor management decision. Apparently someone paid for a marketing survey and followed poor advice. I bought their butter but will now switch to an Irish import.

Saying the image of a Native American is racist, seems racist to Native Americans to me.

Ah yes! A brand image of a Native American woman, painted by a Native American artist, is removed because three women all named Nicole from *insert suburb where no Native American has ever even stepped foot* complained that they were offended on behalf of the Red Savages stuck on those government farms. They then asked if “Red Savages” is a term that is still in use, and were told yes, because they don’t know how to be told no.

The logos been like that for almost 100 years and people are just now having a problem with it when all people care about are color and gender and how it might be hurtful

The people most complaining about the lack of gender and racial representation just had a female Native American removed from from a logo seen by millions everyday. Way to go you rabid pack of geniuses.

Next Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima, but I bet they'll say nothing about Col. Sanders, bc afterall, they say they're liberals with principles, but they're really just race Marxists with double standards.

Well that's ass backwards. Maybe if we remove all symbols and images of American Indian culture then we will all forget they even exist. How stupid.

Everyone knows that pre-European peoples didn't domesticate livestock, let alone milk them or churn butter. They hadn't even figured out the wheel yet. They were about 5000 years behind the rest of the world.

This is absolutely insane and pure PC. I would think Native Americans would be proud to be associated with a first class product and quit wasting capital on issues that are not significant. I doubt any one that buys this product (years) thinks about quality. Political Correctness goes both ways and no one is naive enough to think otherwise! Silly when the entire world is experiencing a pandemic!

Do those people complaining even use the brand? I'll tell you right now I'll be switching to Kerigold after this, our of principle.
