Hong Kong using pandemic as ’opportunity’ for crackdown, says arrested leader

Hong Kong politician and activist Lee Cheuk Yan, who was arrested along with 14 other activists, said that Beijing and the Hong Kong governments are using the pandemic as a ’golden opportunity’ to crack down on dissent and the growing pro-democracy movement. The activists were arrested on charges of joining anti-government protests last year. The US and the UK governments condemned the arrests.
