United Airlines posts $2.1 billion loss; seeks more federal aid

United Airlines reported a $2.1B loss for the first quarter, its biggest since 2008 on Monday. The airline said it has applied for another $4.5B in government aid, in addition to $5B it will receive from the government to cover payroll through Sept. 30. United said first quarter revenues are seen at $8B, down 17% from a year earlier, with the bulk of the declines in the last two weeks of March.
